Nuts have many nutrients that are often lacking in the American Diet. These are great treats, even kids like them, and they are much healthier than most snack foods
Glazed Walnuts Mix 1/2 cup of sugar with 1/4 teaspoon each of ground cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. When well blended, add 1/4 cup of water. Add 1 pound of walnuts and mix enough to coat the nuts. Spread out on a foil-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour, being sure to stir every 20 minutes. Cool completely and store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks or freeze for three months.
Rosemary Spiced Nuts. Preheat the over to 350 degrees. In a bowl, toss 1 pound of unsalted mixed nuts with 1 Tablespoon of melted butter. Spread coated nuts onto a foil-lined pan and bake until golden, about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. While nuts roast, mix together 3 Tablespoons of coarsely chopped fresh rosemary, 1 Tablespoon dark brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 1 Tablespoon of kosher salt. When the nuts are roasted mix with the seasonings and serve hot or cold.
